Trailhead Community is an innovative, inclusive housing community in Littleton, Colorado, created to bring people together in an intentional community where independence, connection, and belonging can thrive. Trailhead provides housing for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities alongside working professionals and seniors, creating a diverse community where neighbors support and learn from one another.
Trailhead was inspired in part by the success of Stepping Stone Support Center and a shared recognition of the tremendous need for safe, accessible, and attainable housing for adults with I/DD. Today, Trailhead's 81-home community provides residents with opportunities to live independently, build meaningful relationships, and truly feel at home.
And now, we get to be neighbors! Stepping Stone Support Center and Trailhead Community are located right next to one another, creating exciting opportunities for connection and community. While Stepping Stone and Trailhead are separate organizations, we are proud to be neighbors and to share a common commitment to helping adults with developmental disabilities lead meaningful, connected, and independent lives.
Lexi & Carly & Friends (LC&F) is a sister non-profit organization that provides funding for quality supports to participants. It began as the brainchild of Bryn Baldassari (Galisewski) and Barbara Ziegler. Their vision was to form a non-profit that would raise funds and provide scholarships to participants of support centers who do not have government funding available. LC&F has expanded the assistance to include other monetary support that support centers and individuals may require in order to operate to their full potential.
LC&F has been able to provide scholarship money to participants to attend Stepping Stone Support Center while they are waiting for their government assistance; they have provided funds to an Eagle Scout to build shelving in the pantry of the Food Bank run by participants of Stepping Stone; purchased cash register and credit card machine for the Stepping Stone Co-op; paid entry and participation fees for Unified basketball participants, and much more! They want to provide assistance that would make the support center functional, desirable and motivational.
